Mixology Blogger Competition at Cibo Wine

By *Founder: Paola Mendez @coralgableslove · On December 4, 2015

A group of bloggers were invited to Cibo wine for a friendly mixology competition at Cibo in South Beach. I had never visited this Italian restaurant before so I was blown away when I walked into the 12,000 square foot location with vaulted ceilings. The space is decorated with art installations by renowned artists and features a two story wall lined with 3500 bottles of wine. I walked up to the third floor and found a beautiful terrace that overlooks the ocean and South Pointe Drive. I immediately decided that I must come back here and enjoy brunch on this terrace.

Once I checked out the restaurant from top to bottom, I headed over the bar area to meet my fellow mixology competitors: Thank You Miami, Miami Food Pug, Cap Confidential, Miami Food Porn, Lokal Eats, The SoFla Sage, Wanna Fork, & South Florida Luxury Guide. I was paired up with Margarita to form the Thank You Miami + Coral Gables Love Team. Marco, Cibo Wine’s experienced bartender, taught us how to mix Italian cocktails. Then, it was time to mix some drinks ourselves!

Cibo-Wine-AmericanoOur first drink was an Americano made with equal parts sweet vermouth, campari, and seltzer water. Add a drop of fresh squeezed orange juice & lemon juice. As a final touch, rub the orange peel on the rim of the glass. Place the peel on the drink to add a decorative accent. If you are into bitter drinks, this is the perfect option for you.

Cibo-Wine-NegroniThe second drink was a Negroni made with equal parts sweet vermouth, campari, and gin. The final drink was a Sbagliato made with sweet vermouth, campari, and prosecco and it was my favorite drink of the night. Marcos made an amazing blueberry mojito to end the night of drink making. How gorgeous is that mojito?

Cibo-Wine-Bluebery-MojitoBig congratulations to the winners of the competition, Wanna Fork and South Florida Luxury Guide! Head on over to Cibo Wine for great drinks, Italian food, and an amazing atmosphere. Cibo Wine South Beach is located at 200 South Pointe Dr, Miami Beach, FL 33139. cibowinebar.com
