The Creator Upgrade: Our September DC Bloggers Workshop

The Creator Upgrade: Our September DC Bloggers Workshop

There is a moment in every creator's life where making content stops being the hard part. You know how to shoot it, write it, post it. What you do not have is a clear answer to the bigger question: what is all of this actually building toward, and how does it pay you?

That is the gap our September workshop is built to close.

On Saturday, September 19, DC Bloggers is hosting The Creator Upgrade: Mastery — a two-hour, hands-on workshop with full-time creator and award-winning coach Liz Strom (@espressofied) at The Royal Sonesta Washington, DC Capitol Hill. The subject is the move from “content” to influence and monetization, and how to make that shift on terms you actually chose.

Who Is Leading It

Liz Strom is a full-time creator and an award-winning coach, which is a rarer combination than it sounds. Plenty of people can teach creator strategy in the abstract. Fewer are actively living inside the algorithm, the brand emails, and the invoicing while they teach it.

That matters for a workshop like this one, because the advice that helps is never generic. It is specific to what platforms reward right now, what brands are actually paying for, and what a sustainable creator business looks like when you are the one running it.

What You Will Walk Away With

This is a working session, not a lecture. Over two hours, Liz will take the room through four things.

Goal-setting frameworks. Not vague resolutions, but a structure for deciding what you are building and how you will know you are getting there.

Defining success and livelihood on your own terms. The most useful and least discussed part of creator work. Someone else's version of “making it” will quietly run your calendar if you never define your own.

Modern marketing. How to position and market what you do in the current landscape, rather than the one that existed three algorithm changes ago.

Personal branding strategies. Turning the thing you already do well into something recognizable, and therefore something people will pay for.

Who This Is For

Come if you have been creating for a while and sense you have plateaued. Come if you are getting decent engagement that has not translated into income. Come if you are earning already and want to build something steadier and more intentional than the current scramble.

You do not need a certain follower count. You need to be at the point where you want the work to add up to something, which is a question that comes for every creator eventually.

Why Come in Person

You could read about goal-setting frameworks online, and you would learn something. What you cannot get from a post is the room.

DC Bloggers meetups have always been as much about the people beside you as the person presenting. These are the creators who understand your week, who know which brand pays on time, who will introduce you to an editor because you happened to sit next to them. Two hours in a room at the Royal Sonesta with that group tends to be worth more than the ticket price before the workshop even starts.

Bring a notebook and questions. Bring cards if you still carry them.

How to RSVP

Tickets are $40 and available on Eventbrite. Capacity at the Royal Sonesta is limited, and our meetups do fill, so we would rather you book now than plan to decide later.
