About Paola & Nikki
Paola Mendez (coralgableslove.com)
Paola Mendez is a serial entrepreneur, the founder of South Florida Bloggers, and the kind spirit behind The Blogger Union.
Paola’s talent for creating communities began in 2007 when she founded Pinkghost, a designer toy store, gallery, and haven for local and international artists. Pinkghost artist products, a collaboration between Paola and her favorite artists, were sold at stores around the world, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, the Rhode Island School of Design, the Gothernburg Museum, Kidrobot, and Fab.com.
Today, Paola continues to run an eclectic portfolio of online businesses, including Coral Gables Love —the most influential online hub in Coral Gables— Dapper Animals, and Cool Gifting.
Previous to life online, she was a web developer in the finance and media industry. She holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Miami and a Masters in Information Systems, where she graduated as the valedictorian of her class at Florida International University.
On her down time, you can catch Paola playing drums in her cover band (along with her partner Brian, her sister, and brother-in-law) or snuggling with her toy Yorkie, Pancho.
Nikki Novo (nikkinovo.com)
Nikki Novo is an author, creative career mentor, and the self-proclaimed headmistress of The Blogger Union’s education arm.
Previous to publishing her first book “Will I be Alone Forever?,” Nikki was the Miami editor for Refinery29, a contributing editor for DailyCandy Miami, an editor at MSN, and the associate editor at Miami magazine. Her work has been seen in Allure magazine, Town & Country, the Huffington Post, MSN.com, Zagat.com, DailyWorth, and others. She also spent time in the publicity department of Lionsgate and Fox Searchlight in Los Angeles.
As a leader for modern-day purpose seekers, Nikki has been featured in Marie Claire, MSN.com, Babble.com, Arizona Latinos, Miami New Times, and Aventura Magazine. She also held relationship columns with eHarmony.com, Huffington Post, Miami New Times, and Disney.com. She has taught at The Standard Spa, Miami Beach and Soho Beach House and has been commissioned to speak by organizations like Levo League, Fordham University, Florida International University, Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Baptist Health, Femfessionals, and The Collection.
Nikki is a work-at-home entrepreneur and mom. She is a tribe member of her family consisting of her husband, tween-in-training daughter, toddler boy, and three-pound Yorkie — who is also her desk mate.
